Hey, Look--it's ABRAHAM LINCOLN!

On Feb. 22, Michael was able to participate in his 5th grade "President Wax Museum." He portrayed Abraham Lincoln, which made absolute sense since he was born on Lincoln's birthday! Here he is, all decked out in his costume before heading off for school.

All set at his station

Mom made the tall stovepipe hat from an existing shorter hat, trimmed down the beard from a long, full, curly one purchased from a costume shop, and made the bow tie (an exact replica of the one in his pictures). The suit was rented from a costume shop at the last minute after the one we were planning on using (borrowed from a friend) turned out to be navy blue. Everyone knows Abe wore black!

Here he is in his wax pose. If somebody came by and pushed the button on his desk, he would come to life, reciting a speech he wrote and memorized all about himself (as Lincoln, of course). Michael did a great job, and we all learned some very interesting things. Did you know Lincoln never really liked being called "Abe?"

Mom, killer hat! Michael looks so cute as little Abe. I'm sure he did great.
